A scent created in 1964 by renowned incense blender K. N. Satyam Setty for the birth of his son, Nag Champa quickly gained notoriety as one of the most popular incense scents available today. Nag Champa even became the signature scent used at shows performed by Bob Dylan and is renowned for its complex yet simple and earthy fragrance.
Nag Champa is created with the scents of champaca, sandalwood, and halmaddi. Champaca is where the “champa” in this incense’s name comes from and has a similar scent to a Magnolia, except with more spice and hints of orange, peach, and honey. The sandalwood gives the incense a creamy, warm scent while halmaddi is similar to Frankincense and binds the aromatic notes of this incense together.
This incense is often used during mediation, in yoga studios, and to help clear negative energies out of a room. It has a light, slightly woodsy, and floral scent that many find to be soothing and may even act as a sleep aid. Overall, Nag Champa provides a highly relaxing scent that is both popular and aids in any type of spiritual pursuit the user might be interested in.
